Howdy, everyone! Thanks to those who have emailed us questions so far this year! Below are some frequently asked questions we’ve received about NASSCC this year. As planning for the 2019 event continues, we will continuously update this list. If you have any other questions or suggestions, please contact the team!

Important Dates

Registration: Apr. 21 – May 24

Late Registration : May 25 – July 30

REGISTRATION QUESTIONS:

Q: IS THERE A FEE WAIVER?

A: Sadly, no. We tried our best to keep the registration as low as possible while still including means and housing options.

Q: I'M NOT A MINES STUDENT, WHAT REGISTRATION DO I PICK?
  • A: You do not have to be a Mines student for the student registration. Any student or post-doc is welcome to purchase a student on-campus registration. ‘Student on-campus registration’ is for any student or post-doc that wishes to stay on-campus during the conference.
Q: IS THE WORKSHOP INCLUDED IN NASSCC REGISTRATION?
  • A: The workshop is a separate cost on top of the NASSCC registration. You will be able to purchase a workshop registration when you register for NASSCC.

PRESENTATION QUESTIONS:

Q: WHERE DO I CONFIRM MY ATTENDANCE?

A: Accepted presenters should follow the instructions emailed them to confirm their attendance by May 3rd. Please contact us if you accidentally delete your acceptance email. Remember you also have to pay and register!!

Q: WHY DO I HAVE TO CONFIRM AND REGISTER?

A: The NASSCC Committee wants to start finalizing the agenda as soon as possible so people can plan their summer travel. In addition, we wanted to give you all extra time to pay your registration and confirming your attendance allows us to hold your on-campus housing for the conference till you register. Registration is open to presenters and general attendees (non-presenters).

Q: WHAT IS THE FORMAT FOR THE ORAL SESSIONS?
  • A: NASSCC talks are 20 minutes, rather than the typical 15 for contributed talks specifically to provide additional time for background and motivation.
Q: WHAT IS THE FORMAT FOR THE POSTER SESSIONS?

A: Poster sessions will be two hours and there will be three poster sessions during the conference.

Q: ARE THERE SPECIFIC TEMPLATES FOR THE ORAL PRESENTATIONS?

A: Not really! Just have your presentation ready day-of in the form of a PDF file or .ppt file. We suggest either: (1) bringing your presentation on a flash drive for uploading during the breaks or (2) Uploading your presentation to a NASSCC Gooogle Drive. We intend to provide the Drive link shortly.

Q: ARE THERE SPECIFIC TEMPLATES FOR THE POSTER PRESENTATIONS?

A: Not really! You only need your poster to be 3’ x 4’ (either orientation). The design choice is up to you!

Q: ARE THERE DEADLINES TO SUBMIT MY FINAL PRESENTATION?

Oral Session A: No!!! Oral session presenters will need to bring their presentation (PDF or ppt) before their session. Specific instructions will be emailed to the oral session presenters.

Poster Session A: No! Poster presenters will be in charge of setting up their posters the day of the event. Clips and easels will be available. Specific instructions of directions will be sent out prior to the event.
